Morgan Associates is an award winning second-generation architectural firm.  James A. Morgan is President and founder of the firm and David J. Morgan is an Associate and Project Architect.  Both Jim and David are involved in all phases of design work.

From its inception in 1969, as successor to Morgan + Ignelzi Architects, Morgan Associates / Architects has maintained a high standard of excellence in the field of architectural planning. Our office has been located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for over 40 years and on Pittsburgh’s historic Southside for almost 30 years. The reputation of Morgan Associates has been built on a number of significant design projects for clients throughout Pennsylvania and the United States.  Our strengths include the provision of full Architectural and Planning services for recreational, commercial, multi-family residential and institutional projects.

Our fundamental task is to solve our client’s problems creatively within the restraints of budget, time, and physical space.  Our firm combines sophisticated two-dimensional and three-dimensional computer capabilities with more traditional methods of graphic communications to provide the best possible solution for our clients.

James A Morgan

James A. Morgan, president of Morgan Associates/Architects, founded the firm in 1969 after having been a partner in the firm of Morgan + Ignelzi Architects for ten years. From 1976 to 1994, Mr. Morgan acted as Consulting Architect to Three Rivers Stadium, designing numerous improvement and maintenance projects for the stadium. He also worked with the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation for several years developing Station Square, a retail complex located in a converted railroad freight house on Pittsburgh’s waterfront.

Mr. Morgan has received Excellence in Design awards from the Pittsburgh Chapter of the  American Institute of Architects and from the Pennsylvania Society of Architects.

David J Morgan

David Morgan is a registered architect with 19 years of practical experience with Morgan Associates / Architects. David has acted as Project Architect on several projects including retail, historic preservation, and residential and hospitality structures. David has introduced sophisticated computer technology to the firm, including 2D CADD, 3D CADD, and presentation software. David has served on the Board of Directors of several community development organizations and has played key leadership roles with in each group.

MEMBERSHIPS:

South Side Local Development Company – The SSLDC’s  primary focus is on historic preservation and commercial revitalization in Pittsburgh’s South Side.  To date, the SSLDC has assisted in the renovation of over 160 East Carson Street facades and three riverfront housing developments.

85 Young Alumni Achievement Award recipient – 1996

This award was presented to eighty-five Kent State University alumni, age 35 and younger, for their outstanding accomplishments in their professional careers and public service endeavours. The award was presented by the University’s president in celebration of  Kent’s 85th anniversary.

Preservation Awards – Presented each year by the City of Pittsburgh’s Historic Review Commission for outstanding historic preservation projects.
